Lesson Seven. GRIT= YOUR PASSION FOR SOMETHING YOU WISH TO ACCOMPLISH + YOUR LONG TERM PERSISTENCE TO ACHIEVE IT.
Learning Intention: To continue growth mindset, YET, and GRIT, the journey to success.
Success Criteria: Consider one activity/ thing they are keen conquer e.g. get a pet, play a musical instrument, tie shoelaces, cook a dinner, what they can do to make it happen.

- InSPIRE Welcome Back. A quick circle game e.g. My Name Is and intro next student e.g. My name is Donald, and this is Vladamir (with a hand shake).
- Teacher story telling. GRIT - Life examples and epic fails, learning to drive, ice skate, getting picked on a team, applying for a job, making a birthday cake to look like the cook book etc. (Anyone watched This Time Next Year on TV)
- Role play What are some things people need to try hard to achieve - ask students (volunteers) to role play act as if they are first time learning to –ice skating, walk as a baby, eat with chop sticks, driving a car, tie shoe laces, peel potatoes, bath a big dog, put up a sail on a yacht, blow a bubblegum bubble, etc…GRIT with more practice and persistence, you will get there.
- Do the fun activity you did last time, and with GRIT, can you get better at it?

Learning Intention: To continue growth mindset, and the journey to learn. You mightn’t be there YET, but keep trying and you will get there.
Success Criteria: Consider one activity/ thing they are keen to do, e.g. a cart wheel, rock climbing, mow the lawns, bake a cake.

- InSPIRE Welcome Back. What do you notice about our InSPIRE group? (We come together to look after all Patto kids and teachers, like a family.-use their name, say Hello).
- A quick circle game of My Name Is and intro next student e.g. My name is Donald, and this is Vladamir (with a hand shake).

- Make a YET JET! (experts help the younger students) Launch your craft- teacher can draw up a bulls-eye on the board or….
- Finish with a simple partner /team activity to challenge them, e. g. partner pencil stack, building dice towers (using pencils, not fingers), tallest unifix tower, etc…Scrunched paper battle. (use you recycled paper or a few jotter pages). Two teams have one minute to get as many paper balls onto the other side of the classroom. Finish with all paper piffed into the recycle bin.

Lesson Five. Looking Forward- Positively Focused.
Learning Intention: To revise Gratitude, and Look Forward, positively focused to be back at school, ready for the challenges.
Success Criteria: The students will be able to discuss one holiday thing/person they are grateful for, and make a class list of what they look forward to back at school.
Activities:
- InSPIRE Welcome Back. What do you notice about our InSPIRE group? (We come together to look after all Patto kids and teachers, like a family.-use their name, say high, smile; etc)
- A quick circle game of My Name Is and intro next student e.g. My name is Donald, and this is Vladamir (with a hand shake).
- Revisit Gratitude (being thankful). Holiday Line: the students line up across the room to decide how their holidays went – okish to great! Discuss their reasons.
- Looking Forward, Positively Focussed – discuss the things they love to do at school in their learning, classes and in InSPIRE. Let them know that the teachers are really looking forward to this half year too, but we require them to work positively to make this happen.
- The teacher can chart ideas, acknowledged with the student’s name, and collect at the end of the session. (Give to Kim).
- Finish with simple activity – Balloon VolleyBall or ( InSPIRE activity list). Divide the group into two even teams, and they must volley the balloon, keeping it in the air, Introduce another balloon, continue etc. Have fun, change the rules, eg. One hand behind your back, use your head, must go boy –girl-boy-girl, must shout out AHHH CARUMBA when the balloon is touched!
- 3.25pm, send students back to classrooms.
